My daughter
Lily (6.5.2015, 19:19)Thank you, Dr. I know that it's impossible to diagnose online, and the fact she's so young doesn't make it easy either as things may change. But truthfully, I think it's more than shyness. I've seen shy kids that hide behind their moms when people talk to them, etc. - that's not my daughter. She'll just ignore them altogether. If she wants to ask something about another person (like, what their name is), she'll ask me, and wouldn't even look at the other kid/adult. If I tell her "why don't you ask the boy what his name is", she'll say something like "boy, what's your name", while still looking at me and completely ignoring the other child.
Also, can I ask one more question? My daughter speaks almost exclusively in third person (XXX wants to play, mommy will help XXX, etc.). She gets pronouns confused all the time, and even though she's a very fast learner in other things, the pronouns issue just doesn't come easy. This also made me suspect a spectrum issue, because I know these children have trouble with pronouns. At what point should we seek the help of a speech pathologist? They told us that because she speaks so well, she doesn't need it and it'll just fix itself. But I see younger kids than her getting pronouns right, and she struggles. Should I wait until she's 3 years old, or just do it privately?
