From your description it sounds like the baby does not latch on correctly. I had similar problem, each feeding took a long time and my breast hurt, I got consulting from professional baby nurse but it did not really help - so I thought OK, this is breast feeding. Then at 4 weeks I went to a real breast feeding consultant she corrected the way the baby latches on to the breast and since then life are good. But it took me some time to convince the baby to do it correctly since after 4 weeks she was already used to something, so I recomend to go as soon as possible. Another word of encouragment is that anyway they feed less time as they grow. In 6 weeks it will be much better so hang on
